Russian Cream

I love Easter. The bunny, the eggs, the candy, family and dinner, all of it. But especially the part about the sacrifice.
I am humbled by Christ.
I wish many sweet blessings upon all of you and those you love.
Happy Easter!

I am celebrating Easter with a few thousand people tomorrow. I really am quite popular if you didn't already know. People will line up to wait for a moment of my time.

I will be working in the Express Lane for your shopping pleasure.

Something my family has made often for Easter and Spring affairs is Russian Cream. It came from Sunset Favorite Recipes quite a few years ago. This is easy and perfect with strawberries or crisp lemon cookies. It is pretty when molded but quickly looks fairly tore up once everyone figures out how good it is. Just a spoonful on a berry and mmm. You can make individual ones if you prefer for dessert or a tea or shower. It always seems to take the guys a while to get to this and we ladies have sort of attacked it so they really don't get their fair share. Snooze = lose.

RUSSIAN CREAM
3/4 c sugar
1 envelope unflavored gelatin
1/2 c water
1 c heavy cream
1 1/2 c sour cream
1 t vanilla

5 baskets strawberries

In a small pan, mix the sugar and gelatin.
Add the water and mix.
Let set for 5 minutes.
Bring to a full boil while stirring, careful not to boil over.
Remove from heat.
Let cool.
Add the heavy cream to the gelatin and mix.
In a medium bowl mix sour cream and vanilla.
Add the gelatin mixture to the sour cream and blend.
Pour into a lightly sprayed 4 cup mold.
Chill for about 4-5 hours.
Serve with strawberries and/or crisp lemon cookies.

Hi Amber - just received your comment about doing a room in black and white. I say go for it! You could mix in toile fabrics and maybe even stripes of black and white. Hmm...I don't have an example to reference, but I think if you like the idea then you should pursue it. French style is always in style!

Hi Amber, No offense taken. I don't see an email addy for you so I'll just answer you here. I have to admit I was weee bit sensitive about your comment because I had just gotten a few emails and comments about why was I even shopping when I'm supposed to be saving for a bathroom remodel and a couple of people questioned whether those are really the prices I paid for the items (silly I know since the price tags are on everything in the pictures). So I wasn't just responding to your comment but a few others as well.
Anyway, I'm sorry. I should have known you meant it in a fun spirited way but at the time I just felt it was another veiled slam. I'm usually not so sensitive about things! Anyway, MY apologies.
