Taste The Rainbow ~ The Bride

Photo: Rainbow over a baobab tree

I think it would be fun to go through themes for weddings.
Well not all possible themes because that could go on forever.

Let's begin with the most fun, the most controversial, and the most unexpected one....
Rainbows

I happen to like rainbows.
They make me happy.
Years ago while traveling through New Mexico I actually saw the end of the rainbow touching the ground in a meadow about 50 feet away from the car.
It took my breath away.

Whether you choose to have a rainbow wedding because you are gay, hippie, artistic or just gay as in happy, here are some ideas.
I do suggest that you use a little restraint or it could end up looking like a flashback.
Unless rainbow flashback is your goal, then go for it.

MAKE UP
Let's start with the bride....
All of these eyes would require a professional make up artist for me.

If this first one doesn't get everyone's attention when you walk through the door then I don't know what will, it's a bit much but really very pretty, the long swan like neck doesn't hurt either....

A bit softer and fairy like and sparkley, we all love sparkley....

This is my favorite, subtle and interesting.
Yup, still couldn't do this one, I stab my eye with one pencil much less six....

HAIR
Rainbow hair?
So glad you asked....

Messy but quite cool, plus I guess you could actually comb it....

How about Dreads?
I love Dreadlocks.
Could never pull them off, but I still love them....

Dreads.

Rainbow dyed hair makes sectioning for french braids easy.
Plus this is really happy hair.
Well not condition happy due to chemicals, but definitely color happy.
It is sort of like a bouquet on your head....

See, you can comb it.
And cut it.
What is it with hairstylists and crooked haircuts?
I don't get crooked....

Sort of rainbow ombre and ombre is still on trend....

BRIDAL GOWN
I had planned to wear white when we marry, but the dress I chose is a soft gold.
There are lots of options for dresses using rainbow theme colors, add a sash, trim, tulle underneath, ribbons, etc., in the colors if you want a little less 'bam', or you can go all out.

Add some granola for dinner and patchouli oil to this look and the 60's are back.
And if you missed the 60's, well I'm sorry....

Rainbow Dress

A little much for my taste, fluffy and princessy but, Viva!....

Rainbow Wedding Brides Dress

This is a bit over the top, but hey, if you can pull off the attitude why not....

A little bohemian or Peruvian sort of look and really great if you get lost in the snow....

Soft, a bit subtle and fairylike....

This is made with buttons which is too uncomfortable.
But the same look in a gorgeous fabric, yes....

rainbow button dress

Sort of couture but stand up straight and fix your hair okay....

SHOES
Dorothy and Cinderella are proof that the right pair of shoes can change your life.
Life is short, buy the shoes.

These are fun plus you can dance all night in them.
Although I keep thinking 'Tiny Tim'
60's again, you had to be there....

This is a DIY with puff paint.
If you have a steady hand you could do this....

Hand painted Rainbow dots heels

Another DIY.
Only 8,000 crystals and lots of time.
For the price of 8,000 crystals you could probably buy them....

DIY only 8,000 crystals and lots of time, but so worth it

If alternative is the look you are going for then you would have it pretty much covered with these, hearts, rainbow, black.
And black always pisses of Aunties that you don't like to begin with....
Marc Jacobs metallic rainbow-hued heart and black suede platform sandals
And my favorite, open toe, bootie/shoes.
Couldn't walk in them without falling but I would look really hot sitting down.
Ka Bling....

BOUQUET
I prefer real flowers, but there are lots of options.
Dyed flowers, button bouquets, vintage brooch, paper flowers, or you could do pinwheel, pom pom, beaded, etc..
You could also do a traditional bouquet and add rainbow with a beautiful stem wrap, beads, ribbon, etc..

Even though this one is technically table decor, it would work wonderfully for a bridal bouquet....
♥

Lovely....

Daisies seem to dye all right and still very pretty when done correctly....

Just please please please don't do this.
This is just wrong.
Wrong wrong wrong.
God would not approve, okay....

 rainbow bouquet. unique!

Button bouquet is cute.
You could easily DIY or probably find on Etsy....

Brooch bouquet from Etsy, a bit expensive at $375, for my budget but formal florist bouquets are not cheap either....

Big Fat Bright Brooch Bouquet

Paper flowers....

paper flowers perhaps?

Next post is about the groom and bridal party.

Why are rainbow roses wrong? Buy dying daises is fine???

For the same reason it is wrong to tye dye your grandmothers vintage silk wedding gown, but OK to dye her linen shirt turquoise to make a trendy statement piece. Think about it.
